Cotton Gin Festival

Ever been to a one-horse town? If you have not, you must visit the charming little town of Burton,Texas population 311!

Every April the town hosts their annual "Cotton Gin Festival." This is the oldest running cotton gin in America! Here you have the opportunity to watch tractor pulls, enter a pie eating or bubble gum blowing contest. They even have a goose plucking! Eat sausage on a stick...oh and turkey legs too! Must finish it off with a sugar coated funnel cake and old fashioned lemonade!

Don't forget about the Parade on Saturday. The street is lined with every kind of tractor you can imagine. Bring the kiddos, they can ride their bike and be part of all the action!

For those animal lovers, there is a petting zoo. My favorite is the chicken coop with all those baby chicks. They will let you jump right in with them!

If you are a mover and a shaker make sure you wear your dancing shoes! Bands perform throughout the entire day. There is also an ample supply of cold german soda water(Beer that is!).

For more info check out their site at http://www.cottonginfestival.com/

See you next year in the chicken coop! :)

Gnome Sweet Gnome

After many excursions to Switzerland I became rather wild for gnomes. There is something enchanting, mystical and a little mischievous about them! While walking through the villages of Interlaken, I happened upon a menagerie of gnomes. Made me want to take one of these little guys home with me! :)

I also wanted to find out the history behind the gnome and why these little dwarf like characters are in so many gardens... :) Found out that the word gnome is derived from a latin and greek word which means "knowledge" and "earth dweller."

Personally, I think they watch over the gardens and bring good fortune.
Why else would you have these little elf like guys all over your yard..jejejje :)

Long live the gnome!

XOXO

Round Top Antique Show

This weekend I was perusing the antiques at Round Top... I was in my element! The most beautiful timeless pieces of furniture, gorgeous chandeliers and fabulous jewels. I scored a amazing 1950's gold snake bracelet! Delicious! Also found a metal bumble bee pendant that I will turn into a funky ring.

One of my favorite booths was Ads Antiques owned by a guy named Cesar from Miami. Take a sneak peak at the photo attached. These are just some of his spectacular treasures.

Every Spring(April) and October Round Top features Antiques from all over the planet. You can find just about anything you are looking for. There is a treasure for everyone! :)

Added bonus: The bluebonnets are in full bloom! Bring a camera!

Bi-Rite Creamery San Francisco

This place ROCKS! Must check out Bi-Rite Creamery in San Francisco. It is located in the Mission district between Dolores and Oakwood off of 18th St.

My ultimate favorite is MINT CHIP! It has now become a complete obsession..it is incredibly tasty to say the least! There are so many other delicious flavors but this is my all time Favorite.

There are other funky flavors to try: there is a honey lavender...if you like flowers then this is your flavor..jejeje :)

Sample all the flavors you like!

Usually the line is out the door..but don't fret it moves fairly quick. It is well worth the wait! You will walk out with the biggest smile on your face...! :)

**Best ice cream I have ever had!!!

PS. They also have a great selection of popsicles, ice cream sandwiches and delicious home made cookies!

See you in line...:)

Cafe Cardoza Miami

Just returned from a beautiful weekend in South Beach and happened upon a great eatery called Cafe Cardoza. It is in the heart of South Beach on Ocean Drive. Minutes away from the beach! They have a large terrace which is a great place to people watch...so much to see! :)

Great picks from menu: Must try the 6 cheese artichoke dip! Stringy cheese melts in your mouth! Shrimp tempura sushi with avocado is a must! DELICIOUS!!!

Little tip..The frozen drinks are as BIG as a fish bowl! Its great for sharing. If you cannot finish they will send you on your way with a to-go cup! This is just my style! They do not skimp on anything at Cafe Cardoza!

This is my new favorite HOT SPOT when visiting South Beach!
